QLD: Labor moves quickly to name new candidates

BRISBANE, Feb 19 AAP - The Queensland Labor Party has moved quickly to name its candidates
for state parliament seats to be vacated by senior politicians.

The hasty nominations process will add fuel to persistent rumours that Premier Anna
Bligh will call an election soon, although she is sticking to her vow to see out the full
term into September.

Community worker Mandy Johnstone will contest the seat of Townsville, to be vacated
by Speaker Mike Reynolds.

Brisbane barrister Cameron Dick will contest Greenslopes for the ALP.

The seat is being vacated by long-serving member Gary Fenlon.

Mr Dick is the brother of former ALP state secretary Milton Dick.

Both Townsville and Greenslopes are safe Labor seats.
